From minor features like Background Sounds to cool features like FaceTime Share Play, iOS 15 has it all. One of the most useful features in people’s daily lives is Live Text. You can copy text from your iPhone camera and handwriting using Live Text.
On iPhones and iPads with the A12 Bionic Chip and later chips, optical character recognition (OCR) can be used to retrieve text from the iPhone Viewfinder, Photos, Screenshots, Quick Look, and Safari. It’s fantastic that handwritten text is supported.
How to Make Use of Live Text
Live Text is simple to use in iOS 15 and is enabled by default. Using the iPhone camera, I photographed a book, Target text on a billboard, and restaurant menus. Along with the Live Text button at the bottom right, a yellow border will appear next to the text area. Switch to Text Recognition Mode by clicking the Live Text Button.
The iPhone will highlight the text area and allow you to select it by tapping on it. To copy the text, click the Copy Button when the popup appears. You can now copy and paste the text into your preferred app. When you select addresses and phone numbers, you can do things like navigate to that address on a map and make phone calls. This can even be done in handwriting.
What is the best way to copy text from a photo?
Text can now be copied from photos in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. The Live Text Icon appears in the lower right corner of a photo with text when you open it. You can copy the text on the photo by clicking on the icon.
The Live Text feature is also available in the Photos app. When you swipe the text on a photo, the Photos app copies it without requiring you to press the Live Text button.
